Maw Shein Win’s poetry and prose have appeared in various journals, including Cimarron Review, 2River, Big Bridge, Zocalo Public Square, Ping-Pong, Eleven Eleven, and most recently, the anthology Cross-StrokesPoetry Between Los Angeles and San Francisco (Otis Books/Seismicity Editions). She is currently a poetry editor for Rivet: The Journal of Writing that Risks. She often collaborates with visual artists, musicians, and other writers. Along with composer and musician, Amanda Chaudhary, she is part of musical duo Pitta of the Mind that combines poetry with abstract electronic music. Her latest collaborative book with paintings by Los Angeles artist Mark Dutcher, Ruins of a glittering palace was published by SPA/Commonwealth Projects.

Maw was co-editor of Comet, a literary, arts, and culture magazine based in the Bay Area as well as an Artist In Residence at Headlands Center for the Arts. A recipient of the Creativity Workshops Women Writers Fellowship in Italy and the Judson Jerome Scholarship from Antioch Writers Workshop, she also had a residency at Can Serrat in Spain. She is a recipient of the Arkadii Dragomoshchenko Prize for Innovative Poetry and a member of the San Francisco Writers’ Grotto and the Portuguese Artist Colony.
